An injection-molded plastic kit of a little known fighter trainer in 1:72 scale. The manufacturer lists it as a plastic kit, so the basis of the build is parts on sprues. It comes from the Czech manufacturer Brengun, which also released separate add-ons for the model: a detail set in etch and resin, a vacuum-formed canopy and masks for the cockpit.
The Skoda-Kauba company was founded in Prague during the war by the designer Otto Kauba and the Skoda works in Pilsen. The SK-257 grew out of a smaller single-seat type: it received a stronger Argus engine and was to serve for converting pilots onto fighters. A curiosity of the design was the tapered tubular wing spar, which at the same time served as an armored fuel tank. The prototypes flew well and the type received a production order, but the quality of the workmanship did not stand up to acceptance inspection, so only a handful of machines were built.
Try the parts dry first and tune the seating of the edges with abrasive paper, and only then glue with liquid cement for plastic. Finish the cockpit and the interior before the fuselage is closed. Level the surface with a filler primer before painting, apply the covering coat with an airbrush in thin layers and lay the decals onto a gloss base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
