An add-on set for the S-Kauba SK-257 in 1:72 scale from Brengun brings photo-etched metal parts together with resin castings. It is intended for the kit from the same manufacturer.
Responsibility details are not available.
The manufacturer describes the set as a combination of photo-etched metal parts and resin castings for its own SK-257 kit. It is not a model of an aircraft but an add-on for a builder for whom the plastic parts from the base kit are not enough. Etch manages thin surfaces and fine texture, while resin manages shapes too complex to be produced in a mold.
The SK-257 was a fighter trainer from the Skoda-Kauba company, which came about in Prague during the war from the coming together of the designer Otto Kauba and the Skoda works in Pilsen. It developed out of a smaller type and received a stronger Argus engine, so it was to serve for converting pilots onto fighters. The prototypes managed their flight trials, but the workmanship did not stand up to acceptance inspection, and so it stayed at a few machines only. For a modeler it is a little known type with a Czech trace.
First wash the mold release agent off the resin castings, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surfaces with abrasive paper, protecting your airways while sanding. Separate the etch with a scalpel and fold it in an etch bender. Glue both materials with cyanoacrylate glue and use a filler primer before painting, so that the paint holds.
This is an add-on for a model. The base SK-257 kit from Brengun, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
