Masks for the glazing of the S-Kauba SK-257 in 1:72 scale from Brengun. The manufacturer created them for its own kit of this machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of shaped masks for the cockpit, which the manufacturer describes as stencils for spraying the glazing of its SK-257 kit. It is not a model or a replacement canopy: they are pre-cut pieces that cover exactly what is to stay clear on the clear surface, so that you spray the frames of the cockpit without laboriously cutting tape.
Masking a cockpit by hand is the most common cause of work ruined in the last phase of a build in a small scale: tape cannot be laid exactly along the frame, paint creeps under it and the clear part gets scratched. A pre-cut mask follows the shape of the glazing, so the edge of the transition is sharp and the work faster. The advantage grows on multi-part cockpits with curved surfaces, where laying tape by hand is hardest.
First wash and degrease the glazing, seat the mask with tweezers and press it down with a wooden toothpick, so that no gap is left at the edges. Apply the paint in several thin coats, as a thick coat creeps under the mask. Lift the mask shortly after it has dried, because with fully cured paint the edge tears. Glue the finished glazing with a canopy cement, as cyanoacrylate glue will fog the clear part.
This is an add-on for a model. The base SK-257 kit from Brengun, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
