FuG 16ZY Peilantenne in 1:48 scale from Brengun is a 3D-printed direction-finding loop antenna of German fighters. It is an add-on for a finished model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small add-on for builders of German fighters in the most common aircraft scale. The manufacturer describes it as a 3D-printed antenna for German aircraft: it is not a model of an aircraft but one precisely shaped part with which the loop antenna on a finished machine is replaced or filled out. Brengun supplies it in three scales, and this is the middle variant.
The FuG 16ZY radio set was part of the equipment of the Luftwaffe in the later part of the war. The letters ZY stood for the direction-finding mode, thanks to which a formation could be guided onto a transmitted signal. Part of the set was a direction-finding loop antenna under the fuselage, typical of late Messerschmitt Bf 109s and Focke-Wulf Fw 190s. On a model it is a detail that gives away a late version of the machine at once, and because it tends to be coarser in injection-molded plastic, it is among the most frequently replaced parts.
Separate the part from the supports with a cut, not by breaking, and seat it with cyanoacrylate glue in a pre-drilled hole. In 1:48 the loop is very thin, so fit it only after varnishing and the decals. A light filler primer will level out the print marks.
This is an add-on for a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
