A resin accessory set for a model of the CH-47 Chinook transport helicopter in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Black Dog. It is fitted to a finished kit and adds the parts that an injection mold can only render in simplified form. The helicopter itself is not included in the package. As base kit it names the Chinook from Italeri. For the same machine the manufacturer also makes a separate set with skis.
The CH-47 Chinook is a twin-rotor transport helicopter with its main rotors in tandem. Because it has no tail rotor, it can devote the whole output of both turbines to lifting its load, and that is why it is among the highest-lifting machines of its class. The rear cargo ramp allows vehicles and even artillery pieces to be loaded, and the machine can also carry a load on an external sling. It has been in service continuously since the 1960s and has gone through a series of upgrades.
First rinse the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-tooth saw rather than snapping them. Sanding is better done under water or with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); solvent cement for plastic will not hold on resin. A primer is needed before painting. It pays to fit the fine parts around the cockpit and the engine nacelles only after the fuselage has been painted.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
