A helicopter rewards detailing more than most fixed-wing subjects. Extensive glazing exposes the whole cockpit, open doors invite a look into the cargo bay, and the rotor head and undercarriage stay in plain view. Accessories lift exactly those exposed places: a relief instrument panel instead of a flat moulding, etched buckles instead of a printed harness, a crystal-clear canopy instead of a thick-walled one.
Most sets are shaped to one specific moulding, so the intended kit and machine variant are stated with every product; compare both against the box on your bench. Coverage is strongest for quarter scale; thirty-fifth, 1:72 helicopter kits and the large gunship scales are all well served alongside it.
Start with masks and decals, where little can go wrong. Etched fretwork and resin castings want cyano, a sharp blade and a little practice, and repay it with detail plastic will never give. Combined sets save time because they bring together what matters for one kit.
Photo-etch is thin brass or steel for ribbing, grilles and harnesses. Resin and 3D printing handle three-dimensional shapes — exhausts, weighted wheels, rotor heads. Masks are self-adhesive stencils for spraying, and 3D decals add a coloured relief surface with no gluing at all.
