This is a decal sheet in 1:48 scale with the markings of the Sri Lanka Air Force. It is not a kit and there are no plastic parts in the package — the sheet is there so that a finished model can get markings that kit manufacturers do not put in their boxes. Exotic air forces are exactly why decal sheets are bought: the same aircraft in Sri Lankan colors looks different from the usual version out of the box.
The Sri Lanka Air Force went through a rapid transformation during the long civil war that ended in 2009. In the early 1990s it obtained F-7 fighters and FT-7 trainers from China, in 1996 Kfir aircraft arrived from Israel and around 2000 ground-attack MiG-27s. The helicopter arm was equipped from 1995 with Mi-24 attack helicopters and later with the Mi-35. The markings of Sri Lankan machines are among the less well covered subjects of modern aviation history, so check the selection on the sheet against the box.
A decal holds only on a smooth gloss base — on flat paint it settles with a white outline around it. Cut with a small margin, dip briefly in warm water and slide the decal off the paper rather than pulling it. On riveted surfaces a decal softener applied after the decal has settled will help. Once dry, varnish the whole model with a flat or semi-gloss coat so the decal disappears into the surface.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
