Westland Wessex HU.5 exhausts 1:48 (QuickBoost) Replacement exhausts for the Wessex HU.5 helicopter kits from Italeri and Academy in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Replacement parts for building the British helicopter Westland Wessex HU.5 in 1:48 scale. The set replaces the exhausts of the turboshaft engines, which are conspicuous on the real machine and tend to be solid in plastic. The box states Wessex kits from Italeri and Academy as the targets. The QuickBoost brand belongs to the Czech maker Aires Hobby Models and produces simple replacement parts for plastic kits.
The Westland Wessex came about in Britain as a licensed adaptation of the Sikorsky S-58, in which the British maker exchanged the piston engine for turboshaft power. The HU.5 version was intended for landing operations by the Royal Marines and was powered by a pair of coupled engines, which gave it good reliability over the sea. It was used among other places in the Falklands conflict and stayed in service into the 1990s.
Wash the resin parts in warm soapy water before gluing, so that the mold release agent disappears from the surface, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc, never with sprue nippers, which will break resin up. Sand the mating surface flat and glue the part with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or with epoxy, because cement for plastic will not hold here. When sanding resin, use a respirator or sand wet, as the dust is not good to breathe.
This is an add-on for a model, not a kit. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
