A pre-cut set of masking stencils for the canopy glazing of the Italian jet trainer Aermacchi MB-339 in 1:72 scale. It is made by the Czech brand Peewit and the stencils are cut from yellow paper-fabric adhesive tape. The box gives the MB-339 from Kovozavody Prostejov as the target kit. The package holds self-adhesive masks, not plastic parts and not decals.
The Aermacchi MB-339 is a two-seat jet trainer and light attack aircraft with a tandem cockpit, which first flew in 1976 and followed on from the older MB-326. It is powered by a turbojet of the Viper series, and the underwing stations allow it to carry armament for continuation training and for light attack tasks alike. It is best known as the machine of the Italian aerobatic team Frecce Tricolori. The long glazed canopy of the tandem cockpit is the dominant surface on a model.
The masks are lifted off the carrier sheet with the point of a sharp modeling knife, transferred with pointed tweezers and pressed down with a sharpened wooden stick. It is that pressing down all the way round that decides the result: wherever the paint creeps under, a blurred edge appears. Degrease the canopy first, apply a thin coat of the frame color and lift the masking pieces off the same day, while the adhesive has not hardened. On a clear part use a stick, not a knife, so that no scratch is left.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit of an aircraft. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
