Responsibility details are not available.
A figure of a Czechoslovak airman of the 1920s in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand Peewit, offered by the manufacturer under number 73008. It belongs to a line of small figures with which a model of an interwar aircraft or a scene on an airfield can be completed. The figure in period leather gear gives the airframe a readable sense of scale. It is supplied unpainted and unassembled; paints and glue are not included in the package.
The 1920s are the period of building from nothing in Czechoslovak aviation. Airmen sat in the open cockpits of biplanes of home design, so the gear had to protect above all against the cold and the slipstream: a leather helmet, large goggles, a long leather coat and high gloves. Training took place on machines with a wooden structure and fabric covering, and air displays were among the most closely watched public events of the young republic.
A figure in 1:72 scale is small, so the preparation is what counts. Carefully remove the residue left by casting or printing, go over the surface with fine abrasive paper and apply a thin base so that the paint holds and does not run into the folds. Paint with a brush in coats, starting from the darkest area: the leather coat and the helmet in two or three shades of brown, the goggles in gloss varnish, the face with a drybrush. Bring out the folds of the clothing with a dark wash and blend the raised parts with a lighter tone.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
