Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the German Fokker Dr.I fighter triplane in 1:28 scale from Revell. With Revell the 1:28 scale is a so-called box scale, set by the size of the box, and among aircraft models it is one of the larger ones: the finished triplane is therefore easy to see and takes well worked detail on the engine and the armament alike.
The Fokker Dr.I was a German fighter triplane of 1917, built as the answer to the British Sopwith Triplane. The three short wings gave it small dimensions, a high rate of climb and exceptional agility, but in speed it lagged behind its opponents. A rotary engine and two synchronized machine guns made it a dangerous adversary in close combat. Only about three hundred and twenty were built, and yet it is the best known aircraft of the First World War, because Manfred von Richthofen flew it.
With a triplane the order of work decides the result: first finish and paint the fuselage with the engine, and only then seat the wings, because once they are glued a brush cannot get between them. Try the struts dry and glue them one at a time, so that the wings stay parallel. The fabric surfaces come out well after a matte varnish, while the metal engine cowling takes a fine gloss. The bracing wires are usually added separately, most often as stretched monofilament.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
