An injection-molded plastic kit of the British heavy tank FV214 Conqueror in the Mk. 2 version, in 1:35 scale. The mold originated in 2015 and the kit is built without photo-etched parts; according to the manufacturer the package holds a braided metal tow cable and decals for the British Army. Check the extent of the package on the packaging.
The Conqueror was the British answer to the Soviet heavy tanks, mainly to the IS-3. Its main armament was a rifled gun of 120 mm caliber, the L1, and propulsion was provided by a spark-ignition Rolls-Royce Meteor M120 V-twelve of 810 horsepower. A particular feature was the rotating commander's cupola with a coincidence rangefinder: the commander could acquire a target and measure the distance independently of where the turret was aiming. Only 185 units were built, and the Mk. 2 was the main production version, differing from the first in minor modifications of the armor plates. The machines served with British units in Germany and were retired in the 1960s.
With a hull this large it pays to assemble and paint the running gear and the inner walls before the hull is closed; afterward you will not reach them. Check the long barrel against the light to see whether it stands on the axis. A uniform green coat is enlivened by a dark wash into the gaps and dry brushing on the edges; apply dust and mud on the running gear with pigments from the bottom upward. A gloss coat suits going under the decals and a matte one over them.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
