A plastic kit of the light open utility vehicle in the large 1:24 scale. The packaging states the French gendarmerie version, that is the service version, not the civil car. Alongside the plastic parts the package also holds rubber parts, decals and instructions. The manufacturer also keeps a set of three gendarme figures separately, but that is not in this package and is bought separately.
The Citroën Méhari of 1968 stands on the chassis of the Dyane 6 and shares its engine with the 2CV. Its body is unusual: it is formed from ABS plastic stretched over a tubular frame, so it does not rust and weighs little. The vehicle was designed by Roland de la Poype and Citroën produced it until the end of the 1980s, about 145 thousand units in total. It was precisely the low demands and the low weight that made the Méhari a favored service vehicle: the French army took over seven thousand of them. From 1979 there was also a version with all-wheel drive, of which only about 1300 units were built.
Finish the interior and the tubular frame before you fit the body; on an open vehicle everything is visible. The plastic body of the subject was not painted to a high gloss, so a semi-matte surface will be more faithful than a mirror finish. Apply the decals of the service version onto a gloss coat and help yourself with a decal softener so that they settle into the pressed corrugations. Determine the paint shade from pictorial reference, not from the name of the set.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
