This is a finished model, assembled and painted, not a kit. Nothing is glued or sprayed - the piece is unpacked and stood on a shelf. Aviation 72 is a range of finished metal castings of military aircraft in 1:72 scale, and the manufacturer's part number of this model is AV7226002. The subject is the machine with the military designation WD325, that is, a particular aircraft, not a general version of the type.
The DHC-1 Chipmunk was the first postwar project of its own by de Havilland Canada. The prototype flew on 22 May 1946 and the type took over the role that the Tiger Moth biplane had played until then: basic pilot training from scratch. The tandem two-seat low-wing monoplane was powered by an inline Gipsy Major engine of 143 horsepower, the cruising speed held around 90 knots and endurance was about three hours. 1284 machines were built, most of them under license in Great Britain. Aircraft WD325 was built in 1951 and on 9 October 1957 arrived among the first at Middle Wallop, where training of army pilots began with it; at its peak the army aviation school had 21 Chipmunks in daily operation. The British Army kept the type for basic training until 1997, that is, long after the other services had withdrawn it.
This is a finished model, not a kit. Check the workmanship, the assembly, the painting and the extent of the package on the box.
