1:1200 Battleship Gneisenau is a starter package with a kit of a German battleship of the Second World War. The manufacturer encloses basic paints, a brush and cement.

An injection-molded plastic kit of the German battleship Gneisenau in the small 1:1200 scale from the German manufacturer Revell. The Starter Kit edition is conceived as a complete starter package: according to the manufacturer, basic shades of water-thinnable acrylic paints, a brush, cement for plastic, decals and an instruction sheet are added to the parts. Revell has used the 1:1200 scale for ships for a long time, so the model will be joined by further ships of the same range in a single display case.
The Gneisenau was the second unit of the pair that Germany took into service in 1938 and listed herself as a battleship; British sources often describe her as a battlecruiser because of her weaker main armament. She carried nine main 28 cm guns in three triple turrets and she was fast. At the beginning of 1941 she made a raid into the Atlantic against Allied convoys with her sister ship, and in February 1942 she took part in the Channel Dash. Shortly after it a bomb badly damaged her during a raid on Kiel and she never returned to combat service.
The parts are small in this scale, so separate them with nippers or a sharp knife and do not break them off. Spray the hull with a filler primer and then paint it in horizontal bands: a darker bottom, lighter sides, the decks set apart. The gun turrets and the superstructures are easier to paint separately and to cement on at the end. The whole will come out nicely on a simple base representing the surface of the water.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The basic paints, the brush and the cement are part of this package according to the manufacturer, other accessories are not, unless stated otherwise.
