Vought F4U Corsair (Folding Wing Position) 1:144 is a boxing of two plastic kits of the carrier fighter with folded wings from AFV Club.

Injection-molded plastic kits in 1:144 scale from AFV Club. There are two aircraft in the package, so you build a pair of Corsairs with their wings in the folded position, as they stood on the deck of a carrier. The parts allow several versions of the F4U-1 series to be built, two types of propeller, various drop tanks and armament are there to choose from, and the decals cover the US Navy and Marine Corps as well as British users.
The Corsair is recognized at first glance by its inverted gull wing. The shape was no whim: the huge propeller needed tall landing gear, and the cranked wing made it possible to keep it short. A powerful radial engine gave the machine performance that outdid most of its opponents in the Pacific, and its load-carrying ability turned it into a feared ground-attack aircraft as well. On deck the wings folded upward, so that the machines took up less room. The Fleet Air Arm used Corsairs too and shortened the wingtips of its machines because of lower hangars.
In this scale clean joints and thin paint decide everything, so that the engraving is not lost. The cockpit can be dealt with briefly, but it is worth masking the glazing and gluing it with a cement for clear parts. Dark blue American schemes come alive if the shade is lightened a touch on the upper surfaces. Watch the folded wing against the instructions, so that both tips hold the same angle; for weathering a fine wash and careful panel highlighting are enough.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
