Porsche 356 B Coupé 1:16 — Revell

A kit of the legendary Porsche 356 B sports coupe in the unusually large 1:16 scale from Revell. The parts are colored and go together with the easy-click system, so you build the model with no glue and no painting. The box holds decals as well as stickers and chrome-plated parts, for example the wheel covers and the door handles. A replica of the engine and a hood that lifts are included too.

The real subject

The Porsche 356 was the first production car of the Porsche marque and was built from the end of the 1940s. The 356 B version of the early 1960s brought higher-set bumpers and headlights and a revised nose. Power came from an air-cooled flat-four at the rear, a layout the marque carried over into the later 911 type as well. The 356 coupe is among the most sought-after classics, and this release came out in an edition marking seventy-five years of the marque.

Building tips

Cut the parts off the connectors with a blade or nippers and sand back the remains of the gates so that the parts seat tightly. Painting is not necessary, but the model can be painted; the instructions also give a recommended scheme. If you do take up painting, paint before joining the parts and let the gloss varnish cure thoroughly, because the large flat surfaces of the hood will give away every smear. Chrome-plated parts will not take glue or paint without cleaning; the sheen only holds on a degreased surface.
