A plastic kit of the Soviet GAZ-A passenger car in the German service version from the manufacturer ICM in the large 1:24 scale. The kit captures the open four-door car as a captured machine in the colors and with the markings of the German army. The large scale allows rich detail in the interior and the engine. A decal sheet is included; the exact contents of the package follow the enclosed instructions.
The GAZ-A was a Soviet passenger car produced on the basis of a license for the American Ford A. At the end of the 1920s the Soviet leadership decided to acquire a modern car plant from abroad and in 1929 signed a contract with the Ford company for license production. GAZ-A cars served in civilian traffic and with Red Army units. During the Second World War the Germans captured a number of them and took them into their own service, hence the version of this kit. It is a rewarding subject combining civilian automotive elegance with military history.
The open body reveals the interior, so paint and detail the seats, the dashboard and the engine before final assembly. Use a thin liquid cement on the plastic. Before painting, apply a primer and lay the color down with an airbrush; clean up the wire wheels and the fine parts carefully. A captured car suits a restrained patina: dust, light paint rubs and fine washes into the gaps and panel lines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
