Academy 1:24 Hyundai Pony Taxi is a plastic kit of the first Korean production car in the taxi version.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the Hyundai Pony car in the taxi form, in 1:24 scale. The Academy brand comes from South Korea, so this is a home subject the manufacturer is closest to. The taxi version differs from the ordinary passenger car mainly in equipment and in its markings. The manufacturer states neither the number of parts nor the extent of the decals.
The Hyundai Pony was the first mass-produced Korean car of indigenous design; production began in the mid-1970s and the car became a symbol for Korea of its rising automobile industry. Technically it drew on Japanese foundations and the body was shaped by an Italian designer, so it was an international collaboration typical of the period. As a taxi the Pony spread widely in Korea and is among the most striking images of the cities of the day. Today it is a subject that is rare and culturally interesting at the same time.
Clean the mold parting lines off the body, sand it back and spray on primer; then apply the color in thin coats and finish with a gloss varnish. The taxi form comes out best if you lay the markings and the lettering onto a perfectly glossy base. Finish the interior and the dashboard before you close the body up. Treat the chrome trim with foil or with paint meant for chrome, not with ordinary silver. Leave fine dust on the wheels and the underside; a taxi is a car in daily use.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
