An injection-molded plastic kit of the first generation of the Volkswagen commercial range in 1:24 scale. The Model Set edition means a complete box: plastic sprues, a set of modeling paints, a brush and cement. This is the basic bus version, not the richly glazed Samba, which Revell keeps under a different part number and which has a higher part count. In this scale the finished model works out at a length of around eighteen centimeters.
The T1 is the very first generation of the Volkswagen commercial range and it grew out of the idea of building a simple van on the floorpan of the Käfer. Production started at the beginning of the 1950s and the vehicle became a symbol both of tradesmen and, later, of travelers. Its split windshield, the large badge on the front and the air-cooled engine at the rear are characteristic. Against the van, the bus version had windows along the whole length of the side and a full set of seats.
The Bulli is traditionally painted in two shades with the division running along the body molding, so prepare quality masking tape and apply the paint in several thin layers. Finish the interior including the seats before you close the body up, because through the windows you will no longer reach it. Bond the clear parts with glue for clear plastics. A dark wash will bring the wheels and the chassis to life, running into the recesses and emphasizing the breakdown.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The set holds paints, a brush and cement; other accessories are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
