A large-scale plastic model of the XM177 E2 variant of the carbine from the AR-15/M16/M4 weapon family in 1:3 scale from Trumpeter. It is a static kit in injection-molded plastic, not a working weapon. The model faithfully captures the shape of the real carbine and usually comes with a stand and illustrated instructions.
The XM177 E2 is the shortened carbine version of the M16 rifle from the 1960s and 1970s, known for its shorter barrel, its telescoping stock and its characteristic muzzle device. It served as a compact weapon for special and reconnaissance units. The large 1:3 scale makes it possible to show the shortened barrel, the stock and the mechanism in detail.
Glue the parts with plastic cement and clean the mold seams carefully, as they are clearly visible in a large scale. The metallic look of the weapon is achieved with an airbrush in shades of gunmetal and black, while the matte surfaces come out well in dark matte shades. Pick the edges out with a dry brush and display the finished model on the stand supplied.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is not a working weapon. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
