An injection-molded plastic kit of the British SS 100 sports roadster in 1:32 scale from the German manufacturer Revell. The boxing from the Revell Classics line is put together as a starter set: according to the manufacturer, the parts come with basic shades of water-thinnable acrylic paints, a brush, plastic cement, decals and instructions. It is a small historical car with fine parts, so a sharp knife and a calm hand pay off.
The SS 100 is a two-seat open sports car built from the mid-1930s until the beginning of the Second World War. It was powered by an inline six-cylinder engine, first with a displacement of two and a half liters and later three and a half liters. The number in the name refers to a hundred miles an hour, the speed the car was meant to reach. The Jaguar name appeared on the cars of the SS marque in the mid-1930s, and after the war the whole company was renamed after it. The long hood, the big separate headlights and the cutaway doors made it one of the most beautiful prewar bodies.
The long smooth hood will betray every imperfection, so sand the joints down and spray a filler primer. Apply the gloss coat in thin layers. Leave the chrome parts, that is the big separate headlights, the radiator grille and the trim strips, for the very end in silver or chrome paint. The wire wheels and the dashboard are easier to paint separately before assembly. A dark wash in the seams of the hood and the doors will add depth to the model.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. According to the manufacturer the basic paints, a brush and glue are part of this package; other accessories are not, unless stated otherwise.
