Responsibility details are not available.
A set of two printed resin ODAB-500PMV bombs in 1:32 scale from the Russian brand Quinta Studio. The manufacturer offers it as a universal accessory for any kit. The box gives the count of two bombs. In the large 1:32 scale the bulky cylindrical body and the stabilizing fins stand out. This is an accessory of underwing stores, not a kit of an aircraft; the model and paints are not included in the package.
ODAB is the Soviet designation for a thermobaric aerial bomb. Instead of a conventional high explosive it first disperses a cloud of flammable filling, which then ignites, so that the blast wave acts over a large area and flows even into covered spaces. The weapon was used against extensive and lightly hardened targets. The version with the additional letter is adapted for release from low altitude, where the bomb is first slowed after release.
Bombs are painted off the model and fitted only at the end. After washing off the print resin residue, apply a thin base, then the main shade and finally a dark wash, which will draw out the seams and bolts. Do the lettering and the color bands on the body of the bomb with masking tape or a fine brush, not freehand. Under the pylons we recommend only fitting the bombs dry and checking whether they clash with the landing gear and the flaps, and gluing them only then. Do not glue printed resin with cement for plastic; it will not hold.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
