A tail wheel bay for the P-51 B and C Mustang is a 3D-printed set from the Czech maker Eduard, cut to fit its own P-51B and C kit in 1:32 scale. It is not a model but an accessory.

This is not an airplane model but an accessory set. It replaces the tail wheel bay of the P-51B and C Mustang kit in 1:32 scale from the maker Eduard. In kits the bay tends to be only a shallow recess, although in reality it is an intricate space with stiffeners, piping and visible fuselage structure.
3D printing can do what an injection mold cannot: shapes with undercuts, thin walls and openings that could never be drawn out of a mold. A part therefore comes into being straight away in the form the real thing has, instead of being split into halves with a seam down the middle. The price paid for it is the brittleness of the material.
The P-51B and the P-51C were the first genuinely successful versions of the Mustang. The American airframe was given a British inline engine built under license, and an average reconnaissance aircraft became an escort fighter with the reach to go all the way to Berlin. The two versions differed only in the factory they were built in; otherwise they are identical in shape. Characteristic are the raised rear fuselage spine with a framed canopy and the long nose ending in the radiator under the fuselage.
The printed parts are brittle, so separate them from the print supports with a cut, never by breaking them. Level the cut surface on abrasive paper so that the part seats. They are glued with super glue, which you apply with a pin, not straight from the bottle. Before painting, wash the surface and go over it with a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth resin. Protect your airways while sanding.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted as 3D-printed parts. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
