An injection-molded plastic kit of the British heavy tank destroyer FV215B in 1:35 scale, manufacturer's part number 35A008. One thing is worth saying at once: the vehicle stands on a chassis derived from the Conqueror heavy tank, but it is not the Conqueror itself. The Conqueror is a heavy tank with a rotating turret and a 120 mm gun, whereas the FV215B carries a rear-mounted turret with an enormous 183 mm gun. The tracks are made of individual workable links, so the build calls for time and patience.
The FV215B came about in Britain at the start of the 1950s as an answer to Soviet heavy tanks. It was to be a self-propelled anti-tank weapon built around the 183 mm L4 gun, the largest gun the British ever intended to put into an armored vehicle; a single hit from such a shell was meant to knock out even the strongest target. The vehicle stayed at the design stage, the program was canceled during the 1950s and no finished machine was built. The model therefore represents a paper project known mainly to players of tank games.
Clean the individual track links of sprue remains and assemble them in sections directly on the running gear while the glue is still pliable. Paint the running gear and the inner faces of the armor before you close the hull. British vehicles of that period wore a single-color dark green, so the visual interest has to come from shade modulation, a dark wash in the joints and dust in the wheel wells. The long barrel needs its seams carefully leveled and a check that it sits true on the axis.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
