A plastic kit of the German field kitchen nicknamed the Gulaschkanone in 1:35 scale from Tamiya. A cart on wooden wheels with a tall stovepipe, complemented by a figure and small equipment.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the horse-drawn field kitchen of the kind used by non-motorized German units during the Second World War. The set is conceived as an accessory for a diorama: besides the cooker itself it contains a figure and small equipment, so it can be built as a scene on its own or added to vehicles and infantry in the same scale.
Infantry regiments relied on horse-drawn field kitchens pulled by two to four horses. One such device cooked for roughly one hundred to two hundred men. For its wooden wheels and its conspicuous tall stovepipe the cart earned the soldiers' nickname Gulaschkanone, that is goulash cannon. In design it was a pair made up of the boiler cart itself and a single-axle limber at the front; the two parts could be uncoupled.
The thin rungs, handles and small chains are the most vulnerable things on this subject, so cut them off only just before gluing and use liquid cement for plastic. The wooden wheels will show to advantage when a thin brown wash is drawn over the base shade and the edges are brought out with a dry brush. The stovepipe and the hotplate will take soot from a dark pigment, while the boiler will take a light metallic sheen from the ladles.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
