An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian armored car converted to run on rails, this time in the cannon-armed AB 41 version. The box is completed by metal springs, metal and photo-etched parts and parts of railway track. The decals offer four markings: the Italian army in the Balkans in 1942 and 1943 and two German Wehrmacht vehicles in the Balkans in 1943.
The AB 41 was the most widespread form of the Italian Autoblinda. Compared with the AB 40 version it received a turret with a 20 mm Breda cannon and a coaxial machine gun, that is the same armament as the L6/40 light tank carried. All-wheel drive and a pair of driving positions made it a nimble reconnaissance asset. The railway conversion with steel wheels was created to patrol lines in the Balkans, where the maintenance of the links could not be done without an armed escort.
Finish the assembly of the rail wheels and springs on a flat surface so that the vehicle does not sit crooked on the rail. Leave the turret and the cannon removable; it makes painting the interior and handling easier. Build the weathering up in layers: first dust on the running gear, and only then rusty marks on the tires and worn edges on the body. Captured vehicles of German units were often only partly resprayed, so the original coat showing through is a faithful detail.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
