An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian L6/40 light tank. Besides the plastic sprues and a clear part the box holds a photo-etched fret, a turned metal gun barrel, metal running gear springs and fine cable. The decals offer four markings: a vehicle of the 14° Reggimento di cavalleria in Albania in 1943, a machine of the 31a Divisione corazzata in the Balkans the same year, a tank of the Lancieri di Novara at El Alamein in the summer of 1942 and a vehicle of the 17° Battaglione carri in North Africa in 1942.
The L6/40 was created by the FIAT-Ansaldo consortium as a light reconnaissance and escort tank for a crew of two. Its turret carried a 20 mm Breda cannon with a coaxial machine gun, a gasoline engine drove it and the weight stayed around seven tons. The Italian army used the machine in North Africa, in the Balkans and on the Eastern Front, where against Soviet equipment it proved weakly armed but mobile. Its chassis became the basis of the Semovente L40 da 47/32 tank destroyer.
Assemble and paint the running gear and the small photo-etched details before you close the hull, otherwise you will not reach them again. Glue the metal gun barrel with cyanoacrylate glue and the plastic parts with liquid cement for plastic. The Italian sand base color comes out best after layering shades and after dusting with pigments that separate the hull from the clogged running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
