The prototype of the Italian L6/40 light tank in 1:35 scale from LANMO Model. The kit depicts the vehicle in its original form with a pair of machine guns in the turret, that is still under the M6 designation.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit depicts the Italian light tank in its prototype form, as it was built before it entered production. It differs from the production L6/40 above all in the turret, which has a pair of machine guns instead of the 20 mm cannon. Besides the plastic, the box holds photo-etched parts and metal machine gun barrels.
At the end of 1939 the FIAT-Ansaldo consortium offered a six-ton vehicle with two machine guns in a single-seat turret. Because the Italian classification of the time put machines over five tons in the medium category, the vehicle at first carried the designation M6, that is medio. After a circular of June 1940 moved the boundary of the medium category to eight tons, it was redesignated L6, that is leggero. In April 1940 it was accepted as the Carro Armato L6/40 and went into production with a cannon turret.
The prototype was built in a single example, so the model suits a display case rather than a battle scene. Glue the metal barrels with cyanoacrylate glue and protect them from paint with masking tape. Finish the running gear and the springs before closing the hull. The smooth prewar camouflage comes out best after the surface is unified with a primer and the panels are lightly shaded.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
