An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Takom capturing the German Jagdtiger heavy tank destroyer in the version with Porsche running gear. The superstructure carries Zimmerit molded directly into the plastic, so this texture does not have to be built up with putty. The box further states a metal gun barrel, photo-etched parts and hatches that can be assembled open as well as closed.
The Jagdtiger was built on the lengthened chassis of the Tiger II tank and with a combat weight of about seventy tons it is the heaviest series-built combat vehicle of the Second World War. In a fixed casemate it carried a 12.8 cm PaK 44 L/55 gun, which went through every Allied tank at a range where it stayed out of reach of their own fire. A smaller part of the vehicles received a Porsche design with fewer road wheel suspension units in place of the Henschel running gear. Only tens of vehicles were built and they reached the fighting only at the end of the war. Zimmerit was an anti-magnetic paste meant to stop magnetic antitank charges from sticking to the armor.
Glue the hull and the casemate with liquid cement for polystyrene, which runs into the joint by capillary action and does not damage the Zimmerit texture. Finish and paint the running gear and the interior of the fighting compartment before the hull is closed. After the base color, layered shading from the airbrush comes into its own on Zimmerit. For weathering use washes into the recesses and pigments for mud and dust effects in the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
