An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from AFV Club capturing the American M24 Chaffee light tank. The box puts this boxing with British army vehicles from the end of the Second World War. According to the box the package holds clear parts, photo-etched metal, a metal gun barrel, tracks and decals.
In the second half of the war the M24 replaced the older light tanks of the Stuart series, which were short of firepower. It received a 75 mm gun derived from an aircraft weapon, so for its low weight it fired comparably with much heavier vehicles. A low silhouette, torsion bar suspension and wide tracks gave it good mobility across country. It entered the fighting of the Second World War only in the last phase, but then stayed in service for whole decades and fought in Korea and in Indochina. Allied armies received part of the vehicles, British units among them.
Finish the running gear with its torsion bar suspension and the interior of the fighting compartment while the parts are accessible. The metal barrel is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, as is the photo-etched metal. British vehicles usually wear a dark green and American ones olive drab; both come alive if the surfaces are lightened slightly and the edges picked out. Keep the weathering rather restrained: a wash into the recesses, wear on the tracks and pigments for dust in the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
