The Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. J of late production with workable tracks in 1:35 scale from Border Model. A plastic kit of the German medium tank.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the last production version of the German medium tank, complemented with workable tracks. A workable track is made up of individual links that are joined together and stay flexible, so the track really sits down on the wheels and sags naturally in its lower run. A one-piece track or one made of rigid parts, on the other hand, has to be shaped and on the model it often looks like a rubber band. On the J version that matters, because the running gear stayed clearly visible on the tank.
The Ausf. J was the last and at the same time the most simplified version of the type. To save production time and material, the auxiliary engine driving the turret traverse disappeared and another fuel tank took its place. The turret therefore had to be traversed by hand, which was a noticeable step backwards in action. The fenders, the exhausts and the suspension were gradually simplified too. On the late vehicles the side skirts were replaced by wire mesh, which did the same job and was more economical to make.
Finish and varnish the running gear and the interior before you close the hull up. First put the track links together dry and only then join them, otherwise the track cannot be tensioned. The wire side skirts are thin and bend easily, so fit them at the very end. After varnishing, weather the model with a wash and pigments, mainly in the wheel wells and on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
