A plastic kit of the Swiss tank destroyer Pzj G13 in 1:35 scale from Takom. It is a new mold from 2023. According to the manufacturer, the box rounds off the plastic parts with a photo-etched fret, a metal barrel and clear parts, so some of the detail is handled other than in injection-molded plastic.
The G13 is the postwar form of the Jagdpanzer 38(t) tank destroyer, nicknamed Hetzer. After the war the Swiss army ordered a production batch of these vehicles from Czechoslovak manufacture and took them into service under the designation Pzj G13. Compared with the wartime form, the vehicle received a muzzle brake on its 75 mm gun and a revised arrangement for the commander. The low silhouette and the sloped frontal armor stayed, as did the cramped fighting compartment. In Swiss service it lasted into the 1970s.
Finish and paint the running gear and the inside of the hull before you close the hull up, as there is no reaching them later. Degrease the metal barrel and lay a coat of primer on it, as paint will not hold on bare smooth metal. Fold the photo-etched parts over a metal ruler rather than in your fingers. At the end, dust pigments on the running gear and a dark wash into the rivets and seams work well, as they bring out the low silhouette of the vehicle.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
