An injection-molded plastic kit from the Ukrainian manufacturer Miniart. One box holds the whole combination, that is the RSO/01 tracked tractor and the two-axle Sd.Anh. Ost trailer with a one-and-a-half-ton capacity. Photo-etched parts, clear parts and decals for three marking options are included. The running gear and the load areas are worked out to the level of detail that Miniart is known for in its military line.
The abbreviation RSO stands for Raupenschlepper Ost, the tracked tractor for the eastern front. It came about as an answer to Russian mud and snow, in which wheeled vehicles got hopelessly stuck: wide tracks spread the weight and the tractor got through where a truck could not. Around twenty-three thousand were built at several plants. Its trailer had a steel frame, wooden sides and wheels with a steel disc and a rubber tire. It was originally meant to carry cargo, and in practice anything that had to be moved forward was loaded onto it.
Finish and paint the running gear and the inside of the hull before you close the hull up, because you will not reach them later. Plastic parts are bonded with liquid cement, photo-etched parts with super glue. Apply a primer before painting, and only then the camouflage coat. Build the weathering from the bottom up: first a dark wash into the recesses and seams, then a dry brush on the edges and finally dust and mud pigments on the running gear and on the underside of the hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
