An injection-molded plastic kit of the British FV214 Conqueror heavy tank in the Mk.I version with add-on spaced armor, generally known as the Super Conqueror. The scale is 1:35. The manufacturer released it as a limited edition and, according to their announcement, a resin figure of a British tank crewman was added to it as a bonus.
The Conqueror was the British Army answer to the Soviet IS-3 and T-10 heavy tanks. It appeared at the beginning of the 1950s, weighed over sixty tons and carried the 120 mm L1 gun, a markedly more powerful weapon than the contemporary Centurion had. Its frontal armor was around 178 mm in the horizontal plane. The Mk.I version was built in small numbers only and can be told apart by the driver three periscopes; the main production form was the Mk.II. The spaced armor came about on a trials machine: the add-on plates were attached to the front of the hull and the turret on tubular spacers and served for protection trials for future tanks.
Finish and paint the running gear and the interior before you close the hull, because afterwards you will not reach them. The plastic is glued with liquid cement for polystyrene, which welds the joint. The large flat armor plates reward an airbrush and a primer coat; the British green comes alive if you lighten it on the upper surfaces. For weathering use washes in the recesses and both dust and mud pigments in the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
