A 1:35 plastic model kit of the T-34/122 from Rye Field Model: the Egyptian self-propelled howitzer on a T-34 chassis with a 122 mm D-30 howitzer in the turret.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Egyptian T-34/122 self-propelled howitzer in 1:35 scale. Besides the plastic, the box holds photo-etched parts and metal wire. It is a modern tooling with a large number of optional parts, so the builder chooses how to finish the vehicle.
Egypt had hundreds of obsolete T-34-85 tanks and was looking for a new use for them. First came the T-34/100 with a 100 mm BS-3 gun in a modified turret, and then a more powerful conversion followed: a 122 mm D-30 howitzer, taken over from the towed version with minimal changes, was built into a T-34-85 turret enlarged with welded-on plates. The result was a rotating self-propelled howitzer with a tall and visibly overloaded turret. Only a few were built and none went abroad, so it is one of the least usual forms of the T-34 that can be built at all.
Finish the running gear and the turret interior before you close it. The tracks and the rear fuel tanks are the most complicated part of the build, so give yourself time and assemble them in runs. Glue the plastic with liquid cement for polystyrene and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. The desert sand shade comes alive if you lighten it on the upper surfaces and let a darker wash run into the recesses. Dust pigments belong on the running gear, and dry-brushing on the sharp edges goes well with them.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
