A plastic kit of the single-engine AMX attack aircraft in the single-seat version, which the Brazilian Air Force introduced under the designation A-1A. 1:48 scale; the parts are unassembled and unpainted.

The AMX program came out of cooperation between Aeritalia, Aermacchi and Embraer and was to give the air forces of Italy and Brazil a single-engine subsonic aircraft for strikes against ground targets, direct support of troops and reconnaissance. The Brazilian side introduced the single-seat execution under its own designation A-1, and the two-seat variant then carries the number A-1B. The power comes from a license-built Rolls-Royce Spey turbojet. The design allows for flight at low altitude at high subsonic speed, by day and by night, and for operation from poorly equipped or damaged airfields. The Italian examples have a six-barrel 20 mm rotary cannon in the nose, the Brazilian ones a pair of 30 mm cannons instead.
The set contains injected polystyrene parts on sprues and a decal sheet. The parts are supplied unassembled and with no finish, and paints and glue are not in the package. To finish it you will need cement for plastic, abrasive material, filler and paints for the version you choose.
The surface carries engraved panel lines, which once a gloss varnish has been applied can be brought out with a wash. In this scale you can see well into the cockpit and into the landing gear bays, so it is worth giving them time. The underwing stores form a prominent part of the silhouette of the machine, so decide on the configuration before you glue the fuselage halves together, and prepare the holes for the pylons according to the instructions while cleaning up the parts.
Aircraft of this type served from the end of the 1980s and in Italian colors they reached the Balkans and Afghanistan, while the Brazilian examples went through an extensive avionics upgrade. The model therefore offers several quite different color treatments.
