An injection-molded plastic model of the modern Chinese fifth-generation fighter Chengdu J-20S Mighty Dragon in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter. It is the two-seat version of the J-20 with a lengthened canopy for the second crew member. Besides the plastic parts, the package also holds a photo-etched fret and 3D-printed parts, the engine nozzles for example, which raise the realism of the model.
The J-20 is a Chinese heavy fighter with reduced radar reflectivity (stealth), counted among the so-called fifth-generation machines. The J-20S version is its two-seat form — the second crew member handles the onboard systems, the coordination of tasks and the cooperation with other assets. The aircraft is marked by its characteristic canards, angular outlines for reduced radar return and internal weapons bays.
Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement for plastic and fill and sand the joints where needed. Bond the photo-etched and 3D-printed parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer before painting; the typical dark gray stealth schemes will reward gentle shading of the panels and discreet emphasis on the details. Lay the colors down with an airbrush in thin coats.
