Kinetic 1:48 — US Navy ground equipment set with a tractor is an accessory for aviation dioramas. It is not an aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft model, but an accessory for one: a set of ground equipment of the kind that surrounds an aircraft on the deck of a carrier and at a base, complemented according to the packaging by a tractor. It is exactly things like these that make a scene with an aircraft make sense, because they show how the machine is handled. The Kinetic brand builds sets of present-day aviation equipment with a detailed parts breakdown. The manufacturer does not elaborate on the composition of the set, the number of parts or the type designation of the tractor, so they are not stated here.
The deck of a carrier is full of specialized equipment: tractors for moving aircraft, sources of electrical power and air, ammunition carts, ladders, stands and chocks. Everything has a fixed place and a conspicuous color, so that the crew can find it quickly in the noise and the cramped space. The tractor is the most important item of all, because an aircraft is not moved around the deck under its own power any more often than necessary. For a modeler this equipment means that a scene with a single aircraft can be more interesting than a display case with five.
Build and paint the individual items of equipment separately; it is quicker than doing it on a base. Equipment on deck is very heavily worn: after the base color put chipping on the edges, oily streaks around the engines and fine dust or salt deposits everywhere. Warning colors and lettering are typical of this equipment, so do not leave the items in a single color. Add chocks and cables from your own material; that is what the scene gains most from.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. An aircraft model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
