The masking set 1:48 F-4G/E Phantom II painting mask from Clear Prop Models is intended for masking the glazing of a model of the Phantom II in the F-4G and F-4E versions in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Self-adhesive masks from the manufacturer Clear Prop Models for a model of the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II in 1:48 scale, according to the name for the F-4G and F-4E versions. It is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The masks are stuck directly onto the clear part and replace cutting masking tape with a knife.
Two versions, one cockpit
The F-4E and the F-4G share the same fuselage and cockpit layout and differ mainly in the equipment for the suppression of enemy air defenses. For masking the glazing that means one sheet covers both versions. The Phantom has a tandem cockpit where the canopies open separately for the pilot and for the second crew member, and a fixed center frame belongs to that. There are therefore more parts to mask than on a single-seat aircraft, and cutting by hand is particularly tedious here.
The F-4 Phantom II is a twin-engine two-seat combat aircraft, one of the most widespread Western machines of the Cold War. The F-4E is the fighter and strike version with a built-in cannon, and the F-4G Wild Weasel is the specialized variant for locating and destroying air defense radars.
Degrease the clear part, lay the masks with tweezers and press them down in the corners of the frames, where paint runs under most often. With a tandem cockpit, decide in advance which parts you will glue open and which closed, as the masking differs accordingly. Spray the paint in thin coats and take the masks off shortly after it has dried.
The masking set is an accessory for a model, and the model itself and paints are not included in the package.
