The FAB-500 is a Soviet high-explosive aerial bomb of the weight class of approximately five hundred kilograms, that is the heavier sister of the widespread two hundred fifty kilogram type. The M-54 version corresponds to a body of the 1950s with a characteristic rounded nose and four stabilizing fins. Because it is a heavy bomb, it was usually carried on fuselage or wing root pylons, where the aircraft had enough capacity, and it was the basic armament of frontal bombers.
Bombs are painted off the model and fitted only at the end. After washing off the print resin residue, apply a thin base, then the main shade and finally a dark wash, which will draw out the seams and bolts. Do the lettering and the color bands on the body of the bomb with masking tape or a fine brush, not freehand. Under the pylons we recommend only fitting the bombs dry and checking whether they clash with the landing gear and the flaps, and gluing them only then. Do not glue printed resin with cement for plastic; it will not hold.
