An injection-molded plastic kit of the French Fouga CM.170 Magister jet trainer in 1:48 scale from Kinetic. The aircraft is unmistakable thanks to its V-shaped butterfly tail, which is quite exceptional on a jet machine.
The Magister was the first jet aircraft in the world designed from the outset as a trainer. It has a tandem two-seat cockpit, two small jet engines in the fuselage and the butterfly tail already mentioned, which took the place of the usual fin with horizontal surfaces. It was built in large numbers and served with dozens of air forces around the world; a number of countries also used it as a light attack aircraft. The French display team flew it for many years and the machine still turns up in civil service with private owners.
Set the butterfly tail using a template or make yourself a simple jig; an uneven angle on this shape is noticeable at first glance. The tandem cockpit has two separate canopies and a framed center arch, so painting masks are worth having. Finish and paint the inside of both cockpits before you close the fuselage up. If you are building a display team or civil color scheme, apply the gloss varnish with an airbrush in thin coats and lay the decals over a gloss base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
