An accessory for modelers of aircraft in 1:48 scale from the Czech brand Plusmodel. It is not a model of the aircraft: it is a boarding ladder, that is, ground equipment that is placed against the cockpit of a finished MiG-29 model and turns a static model into a scene from an airfield. The set is made up of several parts, is supplied unpainted, and the kit of the aircraft is not included in the package. For a display case it is a small thing, but in a photograph a ladder just placed against the aircraft is exactly what gives a model a story and scale.

The real subject

The MiG-29 is a twin-engine fourth-generation fighter, recognizable by its two vertical tails and its wide fuselage, which itself generates lift. The cockpit is set high and the aircraft has no built-in step, so the pilot got up by means of a ladder placed against it, which was part of the standard equipment of a dispersal. The aircraft also served in the Czechoslovak Air Force and later the Czech Air Force.

Use

• clean the parts and assemble them dry, and only then glue them
• place the ladder against the cockpit of the finished model and check the height at which it hangs
• paint according to period photographs, where muted metallic and signal shades are common
• suggest wear with rubbing on the steps and rust at the joints
• add a piece of parking apron under the ladder, which will give the scene scale

The set is intended for modelers who want to add ground equipment to their aircraft. The kit of the aircraft, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
