MiG-15 MiG-15bis landing flaps 1:48 from Eduard is a photo-etched set of landing flaps for models of the MiG-15 fighter and the bis version. It is a metal accessory, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The photo-etched MiG-15 MiG-15bis landing flaps set in 1:48 scale replaces the plastic landing flaps of the MiG-15 fighter and of its later MiG-15bis version with parts of thin sheet metal. The set is cut to fit the MiG-15 kit from Eduard. This is not an airplane model but a photo-etched detail accessory.
The flaps of the MiG-15 have a ribbed structure on the inner face, which injection-molded plastic can never capture because of the wall thickness. Photo-etched metal lets the flaps be set in the lowered position and shows both their interior and the underside of the wing. It is one of the most striking differences between a model built straight from the box and a model taken all the way to detail.
Cut the parts out of the fret on a hard surface with a sharp knife, not with nippers. Make the bends in a photo-etch bender or between two blades, as the metal takes only a limited number of bends and will crack if bent repeatedly. They are glued with super glue or with two-part epoxy resin. The metal is smooth, so always apply a primer to it, otherwise the paint holds poorly. Set the angle of the lowered flaps by the documentation of the aircraft, not by eye.
This is an accessory, not an airplane model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
