A plastic kit of the Mil Mi-171Sh military transport helicopter in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Zvezda. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and glue and paints are not included in the package. In 1:48 scale a helicopter of the Mi-8 family is a large model with a long fuselage, a tail boom and a five-blade rotor, so it takes up a fair piece of a display case.
The Mi-171Sh is the armed transport version from the Mi-8 and Mi-17 family of helicopters, the most widespread helicopter line in the world. Compared with the civil machines it has cabin armor, pylons for unguided rockets and machine guns, and equipment for dropping troops. Machines of the same type are also operated by the Czech Air Force, which took them on after 2005 and uses them for transport and for supporting special forces.
Glue the plastic parts with a thin cement for plastic, which melts the joint, and apply a thin layer into the seam with a fine brush. Fill and sand the seams, then spray the whole model with a primer, which will reveal any remaining grooves. Decals hold best over a gloss intermediate coat, and a matte clear coat pulls the result together. The cleanest color transitions come from an airbrush; when spraying by hand, apply the paint in several thin coats rather than one heavy one.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
