A finished, assembled and painted model of the American Republic P-47D Thunderbolt fighter in 1:48 scale in the markings of the US Army Air Forces. Easy Model is the collector's line of the Chinese manufacturer Trumpeter: the model comes out of the box built, sprayed and with markings applied, so it needs neither glue nor paints. The particular group, squadron and pilot are not stated here.
The Thunderbolt was the largest and heaviest single-engine fighter of the Second World War. The Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engine with a turbocharger gave it performance at high altitude, eight 12.7 mm machine guns in the wings gave it crushing firepower and the robust structure gave it the ability to come home even badly damaged. The P-47D version was the most widespread one; the later machines received a bubble canopy, which improved the view out considerably. At first it escorted bombers, later it became above all a feared ground-attack aircraft with rockets and bombs.
Finished models are usually displayed without any alteration. If you want more, bring out the engraved lines with a wash and add a fine dark breath under the exhausts. Pick the aircraft up by the fuselage; the propeller blades and the aerials are the most vulnerable parts. The 1:48 scale is fairly large, so find room for it in the display case in advance.
