A diorama accessory from the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel in 1:48 scale. It is a model of a pallet truck, the hand-operated handling device you find in every warehouse, hangar and workshop. For a modeler it is a practical element: it takes up little room but immediately tells you what is going on in the scene, and a figure and crates can logically be placed next to it.
A hand pallet truck is a simple machine with a hydraulic jack, two forks and a pivoting handle. The operator runs the forks under a pallet, lifts it with a few strokes of the handle and moves it away. The design has barely changed since the middle of the twentieth century, which makes the truck an accessory usable in scenes from the postwar period to the present day.
Wash the parts, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and glue them with cyanoacrylate. Pallet trucks tend to be strikingly colorful, so you can afford a deep shade, but do not underestimate the wear: the forks and the rollers are always worn down to bare metal. Use the sponge chipping technique and give the metal surfaces a graphite sheen. Work a dark wash into the joints so that the structure of the frame stands out.
The set is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
