Bronco Staghound Mk.III is a plastic kit of an armored car with a Crusader tank turret in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Staghound armored car in the Mk.III version in 1:48 scale from Bronco. The Mk.III is the least common of the whole family, because the Staghound body received a turret from a British cruiser tank, and with it substantially heavier armament. The manufacturer rates the kit among the more demanding ones because of the fine parts breakdown.
The Staghound was an armored car that the United States built exclusively for British and Allied units; the American army never took it into service itself. It had four-wheel drive, two gasoline engines and a roomy body. The vehicles served with reconnaissance units in Italy and in northwest Europe, and for many years after the war as well. The Mk.III version came about as a field conversion that was later officially recognized: a turret from the Crusader tank with a 75 mm gun was set onto the body. The vehicle thereby gained firepower close to that of a tank while remaining wheeled and fast. It is exactly this combination that makes the Mk.III the visually most interesting form of the whole family, and the model is therefore worth building alongside an ordinary Mk.I.
Cut the small parts off with a sharp blade while they are still on the sprue and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Paint the chassis and the inside of the body before you close the body up. The tank turret has a different surface from the body of the vehicle, so give it a different shade of wear, to make it clear that this is a conversion.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
