A set from the Czech maker Plusmodel in 1:48 scale that combines a model of an American scooter with figures of the crew. Small vehicles of this type served for moving personnel quickly around vast airfield areas, and in a diorama they look remarkably alive. It is one of those accessories worth rendering precisely because nobody expects them.
American army air bases of the Second World War and of the postwar period covered enormous areas, and moving between the flight line, the workshops and the headquarters took a lot of time. Light motor vehicles were therefore part of the ordinary equipment. A scooter with small wheels, a flat leg shield and a footboard was cheap, easy to maintain and able to carry two people, which secured it a long service.
Wash the parts, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and glue with super glue. Assemble and paint the scooter on its own, do the same with the figures, and bring them together only at the end. Painted sheet metal looks good with a slightly glossy finish and with fine wear on the edges. Dirty the fenders and the underside with dust pigment, because that is exactly what sets a vehicle in service apart from a show piece.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
