A plastic kit of the Japanese light cruiser Agano from Tamiya in 1:700 scale, in the waterline version.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese light cruiser Agano from Tamiya in 1:700 scale, from the popular waterline series. The model shows only the part of the hull above the waterline, so once assembled it stands on a flat surface and looks as if the ship were under way. The box contains hull, superstructure, gun turret and armament parts, which together make up the balanced silhouette of the cruiser. It is a kit to be assembled and painted, not a finished model.
The Agano was the lead ship of the light cruiser class of the same name of the Imperial Japanese Navy, completed in 1942. She was designed as a flagship for destroyer flotillas and carried twin turrets with 15 cm guns. She served in the Pacific operations of the Second World War. The model reproduces her appearance including the masts and the layout of the main armament.
A waterline model is built on a flat base; bond the fine superstructure, gun and mast parts with care, using super glue or cement for plastic. Paint the deck and the hull in naval gray and pick the wooden decks out in a warm shade. A dark wash and a light patina will help the engraved lines and the recesses. The detail can be completed with photo-etched railings and a stand from aftermarket sets.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
